No, You're Not Dying
Mother-daughter duo Beth (a PhD clinical psychologist) and Joyce (a chronic over-thinking millennial) love to sit and chat about finding balance in the never-ending ups and downs of life - so much so, that they turned it into a podcast.
Join them every week for a candid conversation about the many ways in which life impacts our mental health, how psychology can shift your perspective, and why even if you feel like you’re dying, you’re probably not. Kinda funny, never scripted, always honest - so join the conversation!

No, You're Not Dying
Learning to Accept Your Family for Who They Are
There comes a point in our lives when we realize that our parents and our children are not exactly who we thought they would be - they're flawed, imperfect, and perhaps incredibly irritating, but we have to accept them as they are because the alternative is just being constantly angry and giving ourselves tension headaches and ulcers.
And if you're thinking...yes 100% absolutely but how exactly do we learn to accept our family, then get your headphones on because this episode is for you.
Today we're chatting about why people struggle with acceptance and the conflicting feelings it can bring up. We cover how our idealizations about our parents when we’re children can impact how we view them as we age, why we need to focus on 'overall', practicing positive thinking, and why only you can shift your perspective.
We also talk about how children understand when they're not being accepted (even if it's not spoken), the importance of self-reflection, and why we need to be kinder to our families - and not save the 'good stuff' for strangers.
