No, You're Not Dying

It's Okay to Feel Bummed Out This Holiday Season

Are you approaching the holidays with a bit of a 'what's going on here?' mentality? Do you normally feel excited for the season, and now you're just...not? Is there a feeling of 'meh' where there's usually a feeling of 'merry and bright'? Us too.

Today, we're getting real about the complex emotions around this time of the year. We kick off with our thoughts on why recent world events have led to feelings of hopelessness and defeat for many of us, and how stories of family tragedy can impact those who work in the mental health field.

We then dig into why we feel unsettled when our mood is not what we expected it to be, how to know when to push through a funk versus wallow in it, and the importance of trying to figure out why we're feeling this way (even if nothing changes).

We also discuss why talking it out can help us feel validated, how to regain control when you start to spiral, why we can't just create new traditions when we lose old ones, and what distinguishes being bummed out from something more serious.
